The circular economy gets more important as you get further remote, Ardnamurchan is a true community distillery

Independent bottling company Adelphi were looking for a new home to produce some of their own spirit - and what a site they chose!

The Ardnamurchan Distillery was one of the first of the new craft distilleries to be built in Scotland. It is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in a highly remote location.

Steam for the production is supplied by a biomass boiler which burns wood from a neighbouring forest which was destroyed by fire, although it remains standing as dead wood.

The steel framed building was clad with a panelled system because the remote site meant that concrete was difficult to get to the site.

The building contains a small malting floor and kiln.
