What’s in a name?

Organic Architects will take your seed of an idea and help it grow until your idea starts to flourish, we then mash it with our expertise and distill it down to create beautiful places fitting of your brand.

Terroir is as important to a building as it is to spirit, we take the time to understand the unique surroundings and work with the local climate and environment to find the best solution for your buildings.

We think of our distilleries as villages; clusters of buildings which develop over time, they provide people with places to work, for visitors to come and special moments to happen. Water and grain can come from the surrounding landscape, malt draff can feed local livestock and then fertilise the ground to start the whole process over again.

WE CREATE LEGACY PROJECTS.

Over the last 12 years our small, specialist team has helped numerous craft distillers explore their ideas, navigate the red tape and deliver some beautiful distillery buildings which are now working hard producing award winning whisky.

As a craft distiller there are many challenges to overcome between an idea and sipping a dram, but we’re here to share our knowledge and experience with you.

Whether you’re trying to figure it all out, know exactly what you’re looking for—or something in between.

The Organic Team

  • Gareth Roberts

    FOUNDER + CONSULTANT

Gareth has the biggest whisky collection in the team and likes a wee sherried speyside malt (but is yet to find something he doesn’t like) Previously a registered Architect and holding a qualification from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, you can speak to Gareth on any aspect of a distillery project, from the initial business planning to getting the bottle on the shelf.

  • Andrea Wise

    FOUNDER + DIRECTOR

Andrea doesn’t partake often, so when she does it has to be something top drawer.

As a specialist in historic buildings and visitor experience, get in touch with Andrea if you’ve got a beautiful old building to convert.

  • Bari Reid

    DIRECTOR

Being a west coast islander, Bari is partial to a peated dram or two.

Project architect on a number of distilleries you can pick Bari’s brain on what to consider with your distillery design.

  • Brian Noonan

    TECHNICAL MANAGER

A Springbank man through and through, Brian is our technical manager who knows his way around the regulatory requirements for designing safe and compliant buildings.

  • Scott Paterson

    ARCHITECT

The non-traditionalist, Scott likes an old-fashioned which doesn’t really make sense when he’s good with all the tech.

Now fully qualified and settling into life as an Architect.

  • Stephen Smith

    ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT

Stephen loves a whisky and coke, but don’t hold that against him… (He’s also partial to a fine single malt)
He is working towards his certification and fast gaining knowledge of whisky distilleries.
