Designing a Distillery Series on LinkedIn
We are quite active as a practice on LinkedIn, where we post a bit more on our work in progress and the things we are up to. Recently Bari has done a short series of posts around one specific project from the early design stage up to Planning Approval, below is a copy of a LinkedIn article which summarises the series.
Planning Permission is one of those key stages in a project which usually unlocks funding or helps attract backing, it also might be the point where you put a deposit down on the production equipment or settle an option agreement etc.
Every project and client is different - you might want to build a new distillery - but the issues in this series are very likely to be different for your specific site and project.
At Organic Architects we have come to specialise in distillery projects so we've seen a number of client approaches to design and planning stage, this project happens to be on the west coast of Scotland, but we've done the same throughout the UK and Ireland and also in a couple of more exotic locations!
The series of posts try to show a bit of a deep dive into one project up fixing the design and getting local authority approval, just so you can start to get a feeling for how many moving parts there may be, this is only considering the distillery part too, I've barely mentioned the liquid side of things, brand positioning, routes to market and all that fun stuff that anyone looking to get into distilling needs to think about at some point!
